the weatherman needs to go back to kindergarten. There was all this talk of a huge tropical storm in Hawaii today. I was at the beach all afternoon. There was no tropical storm.

And anyways, it is not fair to get my hopes up like that. I wanted it to rain, rain, rain so that school would be cancelled.

And while we are on the topic of weathermen: I have a shocking revelation. If you have ever seen pictures like this on the news with the palm trees blowing and thought to yourself "Oh wow look at those trees. That must be a bad storm!" You were deceived.
(Before I lived in Hawaii I was guilty of thinking that.)

The palm trees look windblown like that even with just a little normal tropical beach breeze. Sorry to burst your bubble.

CBs

Cinnamon Bears are my favorite candy. They are cinnamon flavored gummy bears. I'm a cinnamon bear snob though and I don't like just any kind. The perfect ones are soft. The perfect ones are from the Nutty Guys (see here and I heart the chocolate covered ones that my bestie MM brought me) OR Sweet brand (see here). Unfortunately, the perfect ones don't come from California or Hawaii so I am usually going through CB withdrawls. The closest substitute is Hot Tamales, but they are just a little bit too hot, a little bit too hard and a little bit too plainly shaped. That is why I prefer to stick to my CBs!

Josh Groban

Me, Leena Lou and Kels went to see Josh Groban perform at the Hollywood Bowl. The bowl is huge and we were pretty far away. Even still, it was so fun. Beautiful night and amazing music. The old man sitting in front of us kept making funny comments and saying "OH I just love this!" really loudly.

Work

I love my job! Actually I have a lot of jobs but I will post about those later. Over the summer I worked at Central Coast Medical Oncology. I answered the phone and worked in Medical Records. I love my co-workers and work is way too much fun.

This is Armanda and we decorated her desk with the men from the Bachelorette. We have the "Bach Club" which basically involves watching the show every week and then exhaustively talking about it and analyzing it until the next episode aired.

The best part is, we are always getting fed.

Spy Pictures

One of my favorite things to do is take pictures when it is either a) not appropriate to take a picture or b) the subject has no idea they are being photographed. I like to think of it as mad skills in the "spy cam" department. Here is an example of each.

Seen while riding the bus in Hawaii, and I can guarantee with 100% certainty that this man has never landed a "highly attractive girlfriend"

Seen in the Wal-Mart bathroom. I really hope that drink is on the floor because it is trash, but unfortunately I think she was saving it for later.

Summer Chores

When I was growing up I looked forward to summer all year. Unfortunately the only thing I can remember about my summers as a child is being forced to do an obscene amount of chores against my will. (ok ok we did a TON of fun things too but at the time it seemed like alot of chores.)

One summer my cousin Ali lived with us. As a result, she got the honor of participating in morning chores with us. I absolutely love my cousin Ali and she used to be mortified at the telling of this story but enough time has passed that she can laugh. One fateful morning we gathered anxiously around my mom to hear our assignments. I don't remember what I had to do, or what my brother had to do. But i DO remember that Ali had to mow the lawn.......... We lived in a house with about this much lawn. My best estimate is that the entire chore would have taken about 15 minutes start to finish. We happily started working. The sooner we started the sooner we would be done. My mom, being an awesome supervisor, made the rounds checking on everybody.
What she found was nothing short of tragic. Ali was lying on her bed, eyes closed. The room was dark. In her best "I am about to be angry if you dont have a good excuse for not mowing the lawn" voice my mom said "Allister whats wrong?" to which Ali responded:

" I think I'm going blind!"

The mere thought of a little physical labor was to much to handle. Horrible as this sounds, have no fear. Like some kind of miracle, the second someone else mowed the lawn and all the chores were complete Ali's sight was restored.

But my mom is no dummy. "Get in the car guys. We're going to the beach! Oh but wait a second Ali you can't come. You're blind remember?"

I am going to KAUAI!

I am so excited! I love my Tropical Island Princess. I was devestated to find out that she was coming all the way to Hawaii, but not to Oahu. And then she had the brilliant idea that I could come to visit her! I have school so it will only be for the weekend but the two of us can accomplish ALOT of fun in 3 days!

Banana came to visit me in California. We went to the beach and shopped.

We met working at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Then I came to visit Banana in Utah. She took me on a tour of BYU.

Then she came to visit me in Hawaii.

And now we will be reunited in this beautiful place!

5 Days!

Acai Bowls (ah-"sigh"-EE)

One of my favorite things to eat is an acai bowl. It is comprised of a smoothie made with acai berries and topped with granola, bananas and honey. My favorite place to get them is Kava Roots on the North Shore of Oahu. If you ever go to Hawaii, you have to get one!

Carrie Underwood Concert

My absolute favorite singer ever came to the fair near my house. This was the second chance I got to see her and I loved every minute of it! I went with my sister Leena Lou and we sat in the fifth row which was very exciting. She was so beautiful and had the cutest shoes.

Window Friend

My little brother Puff, decided he wanted to participate in 4-H. Now this is great fun for me because I used to participate in 4-H when i was younger so it conjures up lots of childhood memories. Cons: smelly animals, waking up super early, stupid hats. Pros: wierd people and the potential to make money.

Puff, Mommy and Boodle

What do I mean by wierd people? Well let me just tell you about a boy in my brother's group who we call "window friend" One day I got the pleasure of taking Puff to his pig meeting. We pull up to the house where it is to be held and stumble upon this disturbing sequence of events. Instead of using the front door to greet his fellow pig group members, window friend climbs exclusively in and out the window that is right next to the front door.

My poor little brother just stared over in that direction in horror.

Puff: Kirs can you go in with me?

Me: Oh cmon Puff you can go.

Puff: NO! You have to come with me or I am not going!

Can you blame him?
