Contrary to popular belief,

we wear shorts and flip-flops when it's raining in Hawaii. If we wake up to the sound of rain, the outfit of choice is shorts (to the knee naturally) Old Navy flip-flops and a sweatshirt. While this may sound crazy because normal people bundle up when it is cold a rainy, there is a perfectly logical explanation for this behavior.

If you wear pants, especially jeans, the second you set foot outside the house the water has begun to soak through your shoe and up your pant leg. The rain also somehow manages to come from all directions instead of just the sky above. Therefore you are soaking wet before you even get to the car.

Due to the unfortunate fact that A)BYU-Hawaii is unable to control the temperature of the classrooms (its always -30987665 degrees) and B)you are soaking wet, you will promptly turn into an ice cube if you do not follow the rain dress code.

It's the only way to go.
