I feel like I will get in trouble for saying this.

I love Scotland (yes I have been there).
I love kilts and tartan plaid. (When I was in Scotland I saw a boy going to prom in his kilt. I had an instant crush on him.)
If you're in my inner circle you probably know about the Scottish photo shoot. If you don't know, just ask.
I don't like the sound of the bagpipes.

Once I attended a ward social where they had a man play the bagpipes. As he walked in and began his concert everyone gasped with excitement and anticipation and surprise.
I was 1/2 a second away from plugging my ears.

When everyone's favorite song on the EFY cd was "Praise the Man" I promptly removed it from my ipod because of the backround instruments.

The reason I feel like I will get in trouble for posting this is because on three seperate occasions I have mentioned my dislike for the bagpipes to which the other people in the conversation looked horrified and said "my most spiritual experience has to do with the bagpipes"
OR
"the bagpipes are the most beautiful instrument in the world!"
So if you have a comment like that, go ahead.
Lemme have it.
But this is my blog and i'll say what I want to.
(That was sassy Kirsi coming out to play)

Some of Hawaii.....

And of course a vacay with Puff wouldn't be complete unless we visit a DDD.
This one was Hanks Haute Dogs.

I tried hard to like them, but I really don't like hot dogs.

Stay tuned for some "real" Hawaii

Phantom of the Opera :)

One day we went to Hollywood to see the Phantom of the Opera.
I am obsessed with musicals.
We found stars, Leena Lou loves her.

I love her :) and also it looks like my legs are missing. (Don't worry they aren't)

It was so hot that we went to Trader Joes to get ice cream. Pinkberry on Hollywood Blvd closed down! So sad.

Here we are, plus my dad. He was taking the pic.

And the best part of the day was that we tried to get Puff to get out of the car and see the Chinese Theater and he said "I don't get why its such a big deal! Its just movie stars with their handprints in concrete. Just drive me by and I'll soak it all up and thats good enough for me!"

Pineapple Pie

Abbs insisted that we make pineapple pie. I had never heard of it.
She assured me that was ok because she had the recipe in her head.
She made it up with a little help from me.
It was delicious, it tasted a bit like apple pie since she wanted to put cinnamon in it but delicious with whipped cream!

My boss got me this adorable wristlet from Disney World.

It is the cutest disney thing ever. It has Cinderella's castle on it.
Mine is baby blue and I love it!

Best night ever!

We had an impromptu "family reunion"

First Kenz and I were on Skype. Then we made Pocahontas join. Then we made MM join.

So fun!

Im dying of excitement.

In May, I am going here:

Saturday, November 13, 2010

The kids I am watching right now are bilingual.

They speak English

and Nintendo.

The other day in the car this is what I heard (it makes no sense)

C: It was a giga shadow

M: All you have to do is aerial block them

C: But then I loose my combo

M: Well then limit break them

C: Oh yeah

And as the conversation progressed I got more and more confused. But they totally knew what was going on. I felt like I was in a land where I don't speak the language. But how do you learn to speak Nintendo?

Happy Halloween

I had a completely normal Halloween weekend. Until it ended in Puff shoving an everlasting gobstopper up my nose. I don't like them and he was trying to shove it in my mouth, but I kept my mouth closed really tight. When he got frustrated and attacked me and said "Well I had to get it in you somehow!"

Thanks Puff,
That was fun.

Im off to Hawaii for 2 weeks!

I know you won't feel bad for me, but I hope you'll at least miss my blog!

Who pays the most attention to political signs?

Kids do!
And they're not even the ones that can vote.

The other day I was in the car on the way to piano lessons with Mike, Chris and Abby.
Since elections are coming up, there are political signs all over the place. I pay absolutely no attention to them. But Mike, on the other hand, apparently does.
Out of the blue he said "Kirs Birs which sherriff are you going to vote for?"
I said "Huh?"
He said "Well, are you going to vote for Ian Parkinson or Joe Cortez? If I could vote I'd vote for Joe Cortez."
Before I could ask why he thought that, Abby chimed in "I'd vote for Ian Parkinson! His sign is GREEN!"

So if you need any voting advice, just ask some kids that you know.

I have a problem.

I really like to watch kids movies. Like tonight, I turned on Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Yes, it was at the top of my Netflix list.

I was happily watching it, laughing out loud and waiting to see what happens next when I looked over to see who else was loving it. They said "why are you lying, your pants will start on fire!" That is funny! My daddy was sound asleep, snoring. My mommy was asleep. Leena Lou left to do her homework. Puff was staring at the ceiling. Meaning he would rather stare at the ceiling than watch Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I loved it. Eventually I was left almost by myself to finish the movie. My mom was asleep next to me.

Next on the agenda is the new Tinkerbell movie :)

The other day I made cinnamon rolls

with Puff.

We were trying a new receipe.
In the middle of the project my daddy sent us to the hardware store.
Then Puff begged me to go to Sunshine Donut, which is next door to the hardware store.

I said ok and we started walking over there.

Then I said "Wait why are we getting donuts, we have cinnamon rolls almost ready at home."

He looked at me and kind of shrugged his shoulders and said "Uhh we're stimulating the economy!"

_____________________________

They came out fabulous! This is seriously the easiest receipe for cinnamon rolls I have ever tried. And I have tried about 20 different ones. I like it because it makes a 9x13 pan instead of my usual receipe which makes about 4 pans and therefore takes like 6 hours to complete. This is done start to finish in an hour and 15 minutes.

It comes from Ourbestbites.com

It is a great receipe website that has never failed us! Try one of their receipes, you'll love them!

They were even better with cream cheese icing :)

I'm Bored

1) I go to Hawaii in 2 weeks

2) I go to Phantom of the Opera in 5 days

3) I go to Michael Buble in 68 days. We got tickets on the day. They went on sale. Obsessed? Yes. But you would be too if you heard his new song Hollywood.

4) My real estate teacher (he's a lawyer and a judge) just came into class and said "there having a stress relief class next door. Half of my employees are in there."
I hope that makes him wonder about his teaching too.

4) Also in class I decided that the word FIDUCIARY makes me feel uncomfortable.

5) Try explaining to a 10 year old that all the jobs in Dr Suess books are not real. Like Pinner Blinn who pins together dinosaur shins. Or that Mayzie bird is not real. Things get interesting trying to entertain kids in the orthodontist for 1.5 hours.

6)The Last Song and The Back-Up Plan are TERRIBLE movies.

7)Leena Lou got nailed in the face with a tennis ball today

8) I need to go get the pink sewing pins that my friend told me about. I can't wait!

9)Please: if you like TV you need to watch The Event. I'm addicted. I can't wait to go home and watch it tonight!

10)Today Chris told me that I had "textitis" I laughed. But actually its a real word. I googled it and it says "overly excessive texting disease". But he thought it meant texting too fast. And I AM a fast texter. :)

Party Games

DEF: Party games are games that some people play as forms of entertainment at social gatherings.

I absolutely love going to baby showers and bridal showers. But I always get nervous if there are going to be games. I usually like the games and especially the prizes, but I still get nervous.

Will I have to put on a bib and drink out of a baby bottle? (True story)

Will I have to eat cake in the shape of a you know what and pretend like I think it is funny? (True story)

Will I have to eat melted candy bars out of a diaper? (True story)

I have been to many showers with very fun games and awesome prizes (like when my mom and I won a pound of See's chocolate and when I won an adorable makeup bag) and some mortifying showers where I faked an prior engagement and left before it started.

Maybe it's my personality. Maybe I am the only one on the entire earth that dislikes mortifying party games. I don't know.

What's the worst party game you've ever been subjected to?

We loved dinner at the Eidsons.

Tim was our BBQer
Jon and I smiled for the pic, meanwhile my daddy had a different idea.

My mommy was the dog whisperer.

Mac and Jon did their normal nonsense.
Don't ask, I have no idea what they are doing.

And Leena Lou and Puff played some fiesty ping-pong.

I love this picture.

Puff, Austin and Mac.
:)

Puff went snorkeling in the sink.

Yes, it was just like it sounds.
He filled up the sink with rocks and water and blue food coloring.
And bushes and a BYU cookie cutter.
And a stature of a man on a horse.
Then he got his snorkeling equipment,
put it on,
and dove in.
He was wearing his bathing suit also.
He says he's practicing for Hawaii.
The better part was that he thought his hair was turning blue from the food coloring.
AND
He had to fish all the rocks out of the garbage disposal after my dad turned it on.

You may remember my daddy's obsession with Thrifty ice cream.

Well, one hot day he decided that we would all take a mandatory work break and go to Thriftys to get ice cream. Leena Lou is taking the picture, so we honorarily put her ice cream in the pic instead of her.
Now see my daddy's? Please notice that he has a huge one.
Well the only reason he goes to Thriftys is to get black cherry. And they were out of black cherry in scoops. So he selected that one from the freezer and then just ate out of that.
We take our ice cream pretty seriously apparently.

P.S. I love the look on my Grandpa's face.
P.P.S. I am not that short, I was ducking because I was on the front row.

This is what I'm going to be for Halloween.

Leena Lou is going to be Tiger Lily.
We're desperately trying to convince Puff to be Peter Pan.
AND my mommy to be Wendy and my daddy to be Hook.
We'll see how that goes.

I was in the fabric store buying some sparkley green tulle to make my costume. And then when I was checking out the lady asked me what I was making. I told her a Tinkerbell costume. She looked at me over her glasses and said "It's September."
I said "I know but I am going to be gone on vacation until a few days before Halloween and I want to get a heard start."
Then she said "Oh I suppose your daughter has a party to go to or something."
I should have kept my mouth shut because she was obviously was not someone that appreciated Halloween.
I said "Oh it's not for my daughter, it's for me!"
Then she looked at me like I was from the moon and told me that I was way too old to dress up but "whatever."
Apparently she has never been to Waikiki on Halloween or she would know that there are PLENTY of adults who dress up.
And I am one of them.
And my Tinkerbell costume will be adorable!

Leena Lou and I went to TB.

We each ordered a "5 Buck Box"
The total was $7.98
I thought for sure the guy taking our order would catch the mistake.
He didn't.
He happily took my 8 dollars. So basically I swindled TB out of 2 bucks.
I don't really feel bad though because I can't count the times when we have driven away from the drive thru and opened the bag only to find we are missing things from our order. So maybe we're even.
And that is what they get for hiring employees that don't know that 5+5=10.

Which reminds me of a story.
My friend Tam Tam went for an interview at the Hometown Buffet. Classy right? Haha. She was being interviewed by the owner, who was an indian man.
He asked her a few questions and then he said:
"ok what is 9+7?"
Tam Tam said "16" without hesitation. Because she is smart.
Then the indian man threw his hands up in the air and started shouting in his accent "CASH REGISTER! CASH REGISTER!"
Needless to say, she got the job...

Flashback Friday

Here I am with my grammy at the Great Wall of China.
I was eating watermelon today from our garden.
And it reminded me of my favorite sign in China.
If you have ever been to Asia, you'll know the way they word things on signs is hilarious. See here.
#4 says "please don't bring football, pets and watermelon in the park"
What the junk?

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

If you have never met my Grandpa, this won't be funny.

He was making his bed on our couch.
He loves to sleep on our family room couch.
He started to spread out the sheet, which was lime green with white daisies (used to belong to me or Leena Lou a long time ago)
and said really loud "this is one sexy sheet!"

Advice from a Princess.

I need to say it.

If someone ever comes to you and asks you if you think they should audition for American Idol and you think they SHOULD NOT, please tell them not to!

I feel so embarassed for all those people on there who are terrible and they say "but my friends told me I'm good!"

What kind of friends are those? Don't be that kind of friend.

Watch this and this and this.

Monday, September 13, 2010

I'm a terrible sister because

when Leena Lou got pooped on by a bird in AG Village, I laughed hysterically.
It landed on her lip.
Disgusting,
Then I got out my cell phone to take pictures.
Then I laughed some more while she rubbed tangerine smelling hand sanitizer all over her lips and hands.

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Puff really doesn't like Sunday afternoons,

because we all nap and he is totally bored.
He says napping is a waste of time.
So I decided to go outside with him instead of napping.
And he did random things in the yard like cut tape with a razor knife,
peer through the bushes and
swing on the zipline.
Then he tried to convince me that it was more fun than napping.
I can't say I agree yet.

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Some people just can't resist

dressing up for parties where you aren't supposed to dress up.
For our ward Barn BBQ, Leena Lou and I wore our cowboy boots with normal clothes.
But there was a woman dressed as Indiana Jones.
Yes, of course I have spy pictures.
I feel bad posting them.
You'll have to use your imagination.
